(According to Dân Trí) – Starting from March 15, the Vietnamese government has decided to grant visa exemptions to citizens of 12 countries. This policy will be effective for the next three years.
The government has just issued Resolution No. 44 regarding visa exemption for citizens of these countries.
According to the resolution, Vietnam will exempt visas for citizens of 12 countries:
Citizens of these countries will be granted a visa-free stay of up to 45 days from the date of entry, regardless of passport type or entry purpose, provided they meet Vietnam’s legal entry requirements.
The visa exemption policy for citizens of these 12 countries will be implemented from March 15, 2024, to March 14, 2028, and will be subject to renewal under Vietnam’s regulations.
Thus, the Vietnamese government’s visa exemption policy for these 12 countries will remain in effect for the next three years.
This initiative was also a key directive emphasized by Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính during the regular government meeting in February, held on March 5.
The Prime Minister has tasked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Public Security, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism with reviewing and developing appropriate visa policies, particularly for Vietnam’s traditional partner countries.
Additionally, the Prime Minister directed authorities to explore the expansion of visa exemptions for certain nations and specific groups, such as global billionaires.
Earlier, in mid-January, the government had also issued a resolution granting visa exemptions to citizens of three countries: Poland, the Czech Republic, and Switzerland.
In 2024, Vietnam’s tourism industry is expected to welcome approximately 17.5 million international visitors, a 38.9% increase compared to 2023. Meanwhile, domestic tourism is estimated to reach 110 million trips, reflecting a 1.6% growth year-over-year.
