
Searches for Vietnam grow before reopening
Searches for Vietnam tourism between December and February grew the fastest in the world at 75 percent as the country prepares to fully reopen inbound tourism next month, according to data from Google’s Destination Insights.
Other countries also have high search grow rate are Chile with over 50 percent, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Bulgaria and Croatia with over 25 percent.
People from Russia, the U.S., Australia, India, Singapore, Japan, the U.K., France, Malaysia and South Korea own the highest number of searches for Vietnam on the internet.
In Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City become the most searched destination, followed by Hanoi, Da Lat, Phu Quoc and Nha Trang. Ho Chi Minh City also biggest city in Vietnam and is important airline hub of the country.
Vietnam has resumed commercial flights to 20 of 28 countries and territories that it operated direct flights to before the pandemic.
For the first time after two years, Vietnam has fully restarted international flights. All the restrictions on the frequency of international flights were ended by the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam (CAAV).
The country also ended all restrictions on international flights on Feb. 15.
From March 15, Vietnam will reopen inbound and outbound tourism under new normal conditions, with foreign tourists allowed to visit the country without booking tour packages.
Vietnam started allowing foreign tourists under a vaccine passport program with strict restrictions last November. So far, nearly 9,000 foreign arrivals have been welcomed under the program, half of them Vietnamese overseas coming to see their relatives.
