The high-speed boat started its services three years ago, providing another convenient option for travelers to visit the island. For years, flights from Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi were only choice to get to Con Dao. The boat has a capacity of nearly 600 passengers, maximum speed at 60 kph. The trip between Vung Tau and Con Dao takes up to 3 hours.
The boat used to depart from the Cau Da Port in Vung Tau for Ben Dam Port on Con Dao Island at 8 a.m. and return at 1.30 p.m.
With beautiful beaches and a long historical story from wartime prison, Con Dao Island has become a famous destination in recent years. The island opens for tourism last November and starts to welcome domestic travelers. While Vietnam is opening for international visitors, Con Dao is expected o received more foreigner tourists in future.
