After testing negative for COVID-19, a group of 50 foreign visitors under the scheme “vaccine passport” programme took a tour around Hoi An Ancient Town in the south-central of Quang Nam over the weekend. They are the first international tourists to arrive in the ancient town after two years of border closures in response to the COVID-19 pandemic as Vietnam is gradually reopening on the heels of its rapidly increasing vaccination rates. Vietnam Airlines will launch the first regularly scheduled service between the U.S. and Vietnam on Nov. 28. The twice-weekly flight will connect San Francisco with Ho Chi Minh City, Cirium flight schedule data shows. The Lao Government has announced its plan to reopen the country to fully vaccinate tourists in January of 2022 under the “Lao Travel Green Zone” program. Vientiane, Vang Veng, and Luang Prabang, the capital of Laos, are classified as "green zones" under the project. The Wattay International Airport and the Lao-Thai Friendship Bridge will be the international entry points in Vientiane. This scheme will allow visitors to book tour packages on the condition that they have a Laos VISA, certificate of entry, a vaccination certificate dated at least 14 days
